'Henry VII's reign (1485-1509) was to see the introduction of some of the features of modern coinage.... The major change in the silver was the introduction in 1504 of a profile portrait bust in the Italian style, used both on the groat and on a new, heavy coin, the testoon.' Grierson, pp. 200-201.
