The Eagle Tobacco Company Limited, tobacco and cigar merchants, manufacturers and importers, operated out of premises at 237-239 Clarence Street and at 376 Kent Street, Sydney. It came into being in 1892 incorporating the late Saywell's Tobaco Co Ltd. The Saywell family traded as retail tobacconists and importers and wholesalers from the early 1870s in central Sydney in a number of premises. A Frederick Eagle also traded in central Sydney in a number of premises. A Frederick Eagle also traded as tobacconist. Perhaps this company represented a merger of the two interests. The Eagle Tobacco Company went into liquidation in 1898.
