ITALY, Lucania, Poseidonia, (c.480-450 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (8.01 g), obv. Poseidon, naked but for chlamys over shoulder, advancing to right brandishing trident, **[POMES]* reversed downwards, all within dotted circles rev. bull walking to left, all within incuse circle, above **POMES* (retrograde), (cf.S.424, HN 1114, BMC 22, SNG ANS 657, SNG Cop.1283, SNG Munich 1058). Very fine, short on obverse flan, very scarce.
