ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.49 g), issued 141-140 B.C., (Thompson date), but probably 109-108 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, within dotted border, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, quiver and bow to right, I on amphora, legend across **A QE, to left **DA MQN*, to right in three rows **SWSI/KRA/THS* and below **KLEI/DAMO*, in exergue **PE*, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 276g [same dies] = ANS [E.T.Newell Collection]). Slightly off centre on obverse, toned, very fine and very rare.
