TRIO: Crimea Medal 1854-56, - two clasps - Sebastopol, Inkermann; Turkish Crimea Medal 1855-56 (Sardinian issue); Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Victoria type 2 with swivel suspender). No 2291 James Carson 57th R(?) on first medal, 2291 Pt. J.Carson 5th: Reg.t. on second medal, 2291. Jas. Carson, 57th Regt. on last medal. First two medals engraved, the last impressed. The first medal with many contact marks on the obverse and reverse but also on the edge, otherwise fine - good fine.

James Carson, baker, age 18, born at Drum, County of Monaghan, Ireland; Attested 24Jan1850 at Enniskillen, Northern Ireland; served 21 years 151 days with 14 5/12 years abroad at Corfu Ionian Islands, Crimea, Malta, East Indies and New Zealand; mentioned ten times in regimental defaulters book; medal entitlement confirmed but also qualified for the New Zealand Medal; Disch. 11Jul1871.
