Naming not visible as mounted under glass in a frame (31x26.5cm), but awarded to First Engineer Frederick Cox; together with a WWI Memorial Plaque named to Frederick Cox, small pierced hole at top edge, all mounted under glass in a fitted frame with a colour photo of Tower Hill Memorial and details of F.Cox. Medals toned, plaque one time cleaned, otherwise very fine - extremely fine.
First Engineer Frederick Cox was born at St Blazey, Cornwall, England. He died at age 43 on 14 February 1918 serving on SS Ventmoor which was torpedoed and sunk in the Aegean Sea 8 miles S.W. by W. from Skyro Island by the German submarine UC37 whilst on a voyage from Mudros to Sfax in ballast. 21 were lost including the Master. Frederick Cox is commemorated at the Tower Hill Memorial, London, England.
