A.I.F. on last medal. All medals impressed. Contact marks especially on second medal, otherwise fine - very fine.

Roland Keen Ransom, grocer, age 20, born at Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, Vic; Enl.15Aug1914 at Moonee Ponds, Vic, with previous service of one year in Volunteer Cadets at school, one year in Senior Cadets and currently serving in 58th Infy Regt; Emb.21Oct1914; at Gallipoli Landing on 25Apr1915; to L/Cpl 10Jul1915 for having volunteered and taken part in the forcing of Saphead D21 in the face of the enemy at Gallipoli; then served in Middle East, France and England; to Cpl 21Jul1916; to L/Sgt 17Jul1917; RTA 24Sep1918 for special Anzac Leave; Disemb.23Nov1918 at Melbourne; Disch.24Jan1919; after war service Roland Ransom became a traffic officer with Melbourne City Council; Died 04Jul1944, suddenly at his home; on 06Jul1944 a funeral service was held at the Bathurst Memorial Chapel at Caulfield followed by a burial at Burwood Cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in Melbourne.
