After the war Walter Ryan returned to his job as an assessor with the Commonwealth of Australia Taxation Office, Melbourne. In 1924 he was a Tax Office witness in regard to the well reported trial for collection of land taxes of ?166,067 due by the famous pastoralist, Sir Sidney Kidman.
