Bermuda Bermuda Government 5 Shillings 12.5.1937 Pick 8a PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. The single letter prefix Bermuda series is one of the sleepers in the entire King George VI series for British Commonwealth banknotes. Due to the prefix scheme for Bermuda notes from 1927 until 1966, it may appear that each note is common, but that is far from the truth. This single letter prefix variety began with A000001 and finished with Z240000, with the prefix changing with every 10,000 banknotes. Additionally, the offered example is from the final 1,000 notes printed of this variety. At the time of cataloging, it is tied atop the PMG Population Report, which registers only four notes in Uncirculated grade. An underappreciated rarity that is missing from many relevant collections.
