East Africa East African Currency Board, Mombasa 10 Florins = 1 Pound 1.5.1920 Pick 10 PMG Very Fine 20 Net. A very rare type, extremely limited in issue and almost immediately replaced by the design that circulated from 1921 until 1958. Only five-digit serial numbers with the A/1 prefix are known, which confirms the brevity of circulation for this type. Handsome color is easily seen. Areas of ink and restoration are seen, but do not much detract from the overall appearance, as the key design elements are still in full view. This series is often heralded as a landmark design by Thomas de la Rue and is prized by collectors as such. A fantastic African offering that we have not previously offered in issued form.
