An imposing and immensely gratifying neoclassical medal, toned to a deep gunmetal hue with a subtle champagne backlight pervading the surfaces. Devised by Count Feodor Tolstoy, vice president of the Imperial Academy of Arts between 1828 to 1868, whose medals gained wide appreciation throughout Europe as well as in Russia.
