Republic "Montevideo Siege" Peso 1844 AU58 NGC, Montevideo mint, KM5, Almeida-032 (R1). Coin alignment. A rare one-year siege issue from a mintage of only 1,226, and quite rare in higher grades. This specimen has been somewhat weakly struck on the reverse but nonetheless retains satisfying detail, the planchet toned a handsome grey-gold over muted luster. Seldom seen in this quality and highly desirable thus.
