Initially unpopular, this highest denomination series became important when the pound was devalued within two years of its issue. The lifespan of this note was short, as decimalization began in 1970. Interestingly, 300,000 notes were produced but only 200,000 were issued. A beautiful Queen Elizabeth II type and desirable in this grade, with completely original paper.
