Zanzibar Zanzibar Government 20 Rupees 1.1.1908 Pick 4cts1 Color Trial Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. A legendary design from the most sought-after country in the entire Standard Catalog. All denominations have a uniface, standardized theme, differentiated by size and color. This higher denomination type is incredibly rare in any and all varieties, with only six sales records in the last nine years. Waterlow & Sons created this beautiful Color Trial Specimen as a presentation piece, and its state of presentation is simply remarkable. British influence on the small Indian Ocean island began in the late 19th century, culminating with the issuance of banknotes beginning in 1908, with final date being released in 1929. East African banknotes replaced these notes beginning in the mid 1930s which forced the redemption of Zanzibar Government types. Hole punched cancellations accompany red and black printer overprints. An utterly beautiful type, as rare as it is handsome. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/zanzibar-zanzibar-government-20-rupees-111908-pick-4cts1-color-trial-specimen-pmg-choice-uncirculated-64/a/4022-28579.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4022 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
