Charles Spencer (1706-1758) was the third Duke of Marlborough and Earl of Sunderland between 1729-1733. He was a politician and General in the British Army, where he fought at the Battle of Dettingen in 1745. Spencer later served as the Commander-in-Chief of the British army in the early part of the Seven Years' War (1754-1763).
