Great Britain, George III CU Imitative 'Evasion Issue' Farthing. 1773. GEORGIVS. III REX, laureate and cuirassed bust right / BRITANNIA, Britannia, draped, seated right with shield decorated with Union Flag to her left, holding branch and trident; date in exergue. Cf. SCBC 3775; cf. KM 602. 1.78g, 22mm, 6h.

Near Very Fine. Scarce.

Often struck with crude dies, 'Evasion Issue' coins were often made and used by merchants or pilgrims in colonial parts of the Empire where their imperfect style and thin flans (such as the present piece) would more easily go unnoticed.
