Helmeted head of Roma right, monogram of ROMA behind, mark of value below / Two gladiators fighting, each holding a shield, one attacking with a flail, the other defending with a sword; T•DEIDI in exergue. Crawford 294/1; RSC Didia 2; RBW 1134. 3.85g, 19mm, 5h.

Near Extremely Fine; slight porosity, some light scratches, excellent detail. A pleasing example of the type.

This issue refers to T. Didius, who was sent to Sicily in 138 BC to put down the revolting slaves.
