WORLD WAR I MEDALS. France - Germany. Battle of Hartmannswillerkopf Bronze Medal, 1925. Paris Mint. CHOICE MINT STATE.
By Antoine Bourdelle. 50mm. Obverse: Victory standing left, holding reversed sword; Reverse: The national monument at Hartmannswillerkopf; rising sun in the background. Attractive tan-bronze surfaces, with darker recesses further accentuating the devices. A stunning and powerful Art Deco type.

A pyramidal rocky spur in the mountains of northeastern France, the Hartmannswillerkopf saw a good deal of fighting during World War, much of which was trench warfare. Following the war, a monument to those whose lives were lost was constructed there, as represented on this medal.

From the Richard Jewell Collection.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
