WORLD WAR I MEDALS. Belgium - Canada - France - Germany - Great Britain - United States. Advance of Flanders Silver Medal, 1918. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
By Hippolyte Le Roy. 70mm. Obverse: Soldier advancing right on battlefield, holding rifle; Reverse: King Albert and Queen Elisabeth riding horses facing along with troops, all entering Brussels. Rather deeply toned, with some pleasing brilliance remaining. A VERY RARE type in silver.

A decisive allied victory, the Fifth Battle of Ypres, also known as the Advance on Flanders, was a series of battles toward the end of the war which saw the further disenchantment of the German war effort and a consolidation of the coalition which would ultimately result in total surrender just a month later.

From the Richard Jewell Collection.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
