KARL GOETZ MEDALS. Germany. Post-War Reconstruction Silver Medal, 1921. Munich Mint. PCGS MATTE SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield.
Kienast-289. 36mm. By Karl Goetz. Obverse: Two men lower the head of an eagle onto a plinth; Reverse: Inscription above clasped hands over shafts of wheat. Tied with just one other example as the only representations of the type in the PCGS census, this stunning Gem offers steel gray surfaces highlighted by some alluring peripheral iridescence.

This piece points toward the hope of re-establishing the might of Germany following the ravages of World War I, with a desire for reconstruction (both physical and theoretical) as well as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the German Empire in 1871.

From the Richard Jewell Collection.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
