Kienast-383. 36mm. By Karl Goetz. Obverse: Bust of von Faulhaber left, raising hand in benediction, wearing zucchetto, cope, and pallium; Reverse: Coat-of-arms. Edge: BAYER HAUPTMUNZAMT FEINSILBER. Highly matte surfaces, with a pleasing frosted nature and radiating brilliance.

Serving as the Archbishop of Munich for 35 years, von Faulhaber saw Germany through the end of the Empire in World War I and the Weimar period, to the rise and fall of Nazism and World War II. He also ordained Joseph Ratzinger (the future Pope Benedict XVI) as a priest in 1951.
