Obverse: Neptune/Poseidon (with characteristics of the German 'wildman') standing left, holding trident and extending hand; Reverse: Germania (personification of Germany) standing slightly left, head lowered, cradling German miners and vintners in her arms. Pleasing steel gray surfaces with some deeper hints as one approaches the peripheries.
Following their loss in World War I, Germany was occupied by allied troops in parts of the country, including the Rhineland. This medal marks the celebrated departure of the allies in 1930.
