KARL GOETZ MEDALS. Germany - North Africa. Field Marshall Erwin Rommel Cast Bronze Medal, 1941 (though a later cast). CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.

Obverse: Uniformed bust of Rommel left; Reverse: Camel (representing Rommel's North African campaign) standing right; monument in background with battles, helmet below. Edge: Light seam, some filing marks. Mostly as made, with fairly brilliant surfaces and some light rub on the high points.

Erwin Rommel, known as the "Desert Fox," was one of the more successful German generals and a brilliant strategist. Despite his successes on the battlefield, he was alleged to have been a part of a plot against Hitler's life and, as a result, forced to take poison by the Nazis.
