Septimius Severus (193-211). AE 39 mm. Ephesos mint, Ionia. D/ •AV•K•Λ•CЄΠ•CЄOVHPOC•Π• Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. R/ [N]Є-OK-OP-ΩN. Septimius Severus and Caracalla, each togate, standing to either side of cult statue of Artemis Ephesia; in exergue, ЄΦЄCIΩN. SNG von Aulock-; SNG München-; SNG Cop-; BMC-; Lindgren-; SNG Leypold-. AE. g. 24.79 RRR. Extremely rare and unlisted in the standard references. Impressive medallic example, with a superb style portrait. Dark green-brown patina. Fields slightly 'smoothed', otherwise about EF/VF.
