THAILAND. Kidney Shaped Elephant Ingot "Khub Money", ND (ca. 1250's-1350's). Sukhothai or Ayutthaya Era. Graded "XF" by the Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
cf. Mitchiner-2678/2681; cf.Krisadaolarn-D802; cf.Kneedler-Pl.XI # 1. Weight: 64 gms. Raised image of an elephant on one side and assorted incuse shapes on the opposing side. An interest issue possibly used for trade in Thailand, but was most likely used for ceremonial purposes. Rich charcoal patina throughout with areas of brightness on the high points. A neat issue that seldom appears on the market sure to add depth to even an advanced collection of Thai numismatics sure to see spirited bidding.
