CHINA. Hubei Yuanbao. Provincial Large Ingots. Silver 50 Tael Ingot, Year 25 (1820). Emperor Jiaqing (Renzong). Graded "AU-55+" by GBCA.
Weight: 1883.8 gms. Two vertical stamps, reading "Jia Qing Er Shi Wu Nian" and "Liu Yue" (25th year of Jiaqing, 6th month = June 1820), the variable numeric characters in each having been engraved rather than stamped; two horizontal stamps, reading "Ma Cheng Xian" and "Yong Ning Hao" (Macheng County, Yongning bank). The stamps are well applied and clear with good definition of the characters making identification easy. The face displays light to medium grey tone while the outer surfaces exhibit a rich slate patina with a nice iridescent sheen. A highly attractive example of the type with good eye appeal.
