CHINA. Yunnan Piaoding. Provincial Certified Ingots. Silver 10 Tael Local Tax Ingot, ND. Graded "UNC" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
cf. BMC-Class XL Group A; cf.Tai-3-1. Weight: 353.6 gms. "He Ji Zu Yin" (He Bank pure silver). Stamp weak and unevenly applied, but readable. Minor earthen deposits on the upset rim. Light signs of handling with light attractive tone. An interesting facet of the Sycee series sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.

The area of Eastern Yunnan is adjacent to Szechuan where the present type is normally associated with. However, since the neighboring provinces have much in common sharing similar historical, geographical and social backgrounds it makes logical sense that currencies from these provinces were familiar in either place. According to brilliant researcher and prolific author Stephen Tai some places near the Yunnan-Szechuan boarder were casting their own ingots in the Szechuan style as they would have been familiar with the local populace and readily accepted.

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
