Yuan Shih-kai in high feathered hat. A boldly struck pattern with flashy, reflective fields that animate the crisp and imposing obverse portrait. Individual character is supplied by some strike doubling on the reverse, where the outlines of the peripheral legend are visible, offset and faintly visible in the fields. The coin is infused with a cloudy, medium gray tone that mutes the few old scuffs that appear under magnification.
