CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 18 (1929). PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Gold Shield.
L&M-93; K-618; KM-Pn102; WS-0137. Osaka Mint dies. A VERY RARE pattern design, this charming forerunner to the Sun Yat-sen series presents blistering argent surfaces and dazzling allure. An intense luster radiates throughout while only a few lightly scattered marks are apparent.

In 1929, the Chinese Ministry of Finance ordered a new design for the then proposed Dr. Sun Yat-sen Dollar, with patterns submitted from five of the world's leading mints located in Italy, Japan, England, the United States, and Austria. When composing his Illustrated Catalog of Chinese Coins, Eduard Kann reached out to the mint officials at Osaka concerning this design type. Though the Osaka mint asserted it had no knowledge or involvement in this issue, Kann remains resolute in his association with this design and the Osaka mint.

From the MBMY Collection.

Estimate: $20000.00- $30000.00
