CHINA. Kweilin Mint Copper Medal, Year 28 (1939). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, Unc Details Gold Shield.
L&M-1002 var.; KMX-820. Obverse: Rock cliffs with nearby buildings and surrounding landscape; Reverse: Spade money depiction at center with surrounding circle of characters and ornate edge designs. Struck to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Kweilin mint. Deeply toned on the obverse with significant mint red on the reverse. The depth of some of the color has passed into the environmental damage level in the opinion of PCGS. Upon even closer inspection, it becomes apparent that this issue was created by striking over a Hunan Crossed-Flags 20 Cash, with traces of the detail sitting beneath the designs on both sides. While not necessarily surprising, this remnant undertype does not appear on the four other examples of the type that we've previously offered.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
