CHINA. Order of the Brilliant Jade, First Class Badge & Breast Star Set, ND (Instituted December 2, 1933). CHOICE EXTREMELY FINE.
Barac-415 & 416; Li-pg. 98; cf.Werlich-246. The Star is 74.92 mm with five pointed ornate faceted gilt plaque upon which is mounted a five pointed blue enamel silver star, central medallion consists of carved red jade (possibly red quartz) surrounded by golden pearls surrounded by gilt rimmed red enamel. The reverse has two inscription panels with serial number "34" below. The Badge is 65.74 mm not including the suspension with an identical design, except instead of having two inscription panels there is only one and what appears to be a makers mark. Also includes the original blue sash for the Badge. A handsome set with minor encrustation on both pieces lending to originality, the central medallion of the Badge does have natural cracks throughout mentioned for accuracy. The reverses of both appear to have been cleaned and are bright displaying wispy hairlines. A well matched set with minor cracking in portions of the enamel. Otherwise a handsome set with a low serial number sure to pique the interest of advanced collectors.
