CHINA. Kiangnan. 1 Mace 4.4 Candareens (20 Cents), CD (1898). PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, AU Details Gold Shield.
L&M-219; K-72; KM-Y-143a; WS-0800. Large English legend, uncircled dragon variety. A light scratch on the obverse on the right side of the dragon is noted for accuracy as indicated on the PCGS insert from long ago now toned over matching the rest of the coin. The piece exhibits attractive rich grey patina with areas of slate in the peripherals. Despite the noted impairment a handsome example with a good look.

It is interesting to note that the "M" of "MACE" appears to be over an inverted "M". This also appears to be normal for this issue whereas the clean "M" appears to be much more scarce.

From the Mas Fera Collection.

With old collector's envelope.

Estimate: $125.00- $175.00
