France Bartholdi Bronze Plaque The Lion of Belfort
BRONZE PLAQUE - 'The Lion of Belfort' by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, this being a representation of the enormous carved lion installed by him at Belfort to commemorate the defense of the city during the Franco Prussian War of 1870-71, also cast in bronze and placed in Paris and Montreal from the Atelier Mesurer et Monduit Fils, edge marked bronze and with triangular foundry mark, signed A. Bartholdi. Himself served as an officer in this conflict.
