Indo-Greek Kingdom, Hermaios Soter AR Tetradrachm. Indian standard. Posthumous issue struck by Indo-Skythians near Kabul, circa 90-70 BC. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΩTPOΣ EPMAIOY, diademed and draped bust right / Zeus enthroned facing slightly left, holding sceptre and making gesture with outstretched hand; monogram to right, Kharoshthi script around. Bopearachchi 10H; MIG 414d; CNG 54, 1026; HGC 12, 298. 9.39g, 25mm, 12h.

Near Extremely Fine; old collection tone. Very Rare.

The last Indo-Greek ruler of the Gandhara, the coinage of Hermaios was imitated by the conquering Yuezhi which perhaps explains the obvious mint-error misspelling of ΣΩT[H]POΣ in the obverse legend of the present piece.
