George V gold Specimen Sovereign 1911-C SP67 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM20. An immaculate representative of this first specimen date, its production quality leagues ahead of that of a standard business striking. Details often softly struck are here represented with razor sharp definition, the fields exhibiting the gentle satin glow typical of Canadian specimens (yet without the hairlines so often seen on their surfaces), the planchet colored a decadent butter-yellow with hints of auburn residing in the fields. Housed in an old-style green label PCGS holder known for their conservative grading, and indeed this stunning premium gem could easily be worthy of grade even closer to technical perfection. A near unbeatable offering and one befitting only the finest collection of Canadian Sovereigns.
