PEDRO SEGUNDO. IMPER. DO BRAZIL; reverse with 1852 inside wreath within legend CAMPANHA DO URUGUAY; ring and hinged imperial crown attached to top. AU- with toning around details, muted luster, lightly hairlined fields. This decoration was issued to Brazilian soldiers and officers in the expeditionary force combined with troops from Uruguay and the Argentine provinces of Entre Rios and Corrientes (under Urquiza) that ultimately defeated Juan Manuel Rosas in Buenos Aires, thereby ending his twenty-year dictatorship.
