Iron canister shot (reconstructed and preserved), Civil War era. 6 lbs, 4-1/2" tall, 4-1/8" diameter. Among the most effective anti-personnel ammunition during the Civil War was the "canister" shot, a cylindrical stack of small balls or grapeshot with metal plates on either end, which, when shot from a cannon, would spread out and hit targets over a wide area. This reconstructed canister is matte black all over and perfect for display.
