Lot of three Hannover (German States) talers: William IV, 1836-A; Ernst August, 1840-A; Ernst August, 1841-S, ex-Gibbs. Dav-664, 667, 672; KM-169, 182, 196. 55.45 grams total. The 1840 is XF with surface marks, the other two are VF with dark toning; desirable Gibbs provenance on the 1841 taler. Pedigreed to the Gerhard Hirsch auction of November 17-18, 1955, lot #703; the 1840-A was purchased from the Seaby's Coin and Medal Bulletin fixed price list of February 1957, lot #CE62, with original sales tag; the 1841-S taler is pedigreed to the Howard D. Gibbs collection and subsequent Hess/Leu auction of March 19, 1957, lot #1294; all with collector's envelopes.
