U.S. Navy silver bosun's whistle, 1800s-1900s. 26 grams, 5-1/2" long. Simple silver pipe with flat handle terminating in a hollow spherical cavity, a device used by the ship's bosun for shipboard commands and alerts, "sterling" stamped on side, some cleaning and signs of wear. From a Virginia estate, with photo-certificate.
