Neatly formed but heavily eroded silver ingot, 831 grams, about 98.5% fine, no visible markings (probably Zeeland/Middelburg chamber of the VOC / Dutch East India Co.), first ingot found on the Bredenhof (1753) during 1986 salvage. Approx. 5-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 1". Fascinating piece of "sea sculpture" with up to 1/2" erosion into surfaces due to oxidation and wear, ironically with some encrustation still attached to uncorroded parts, attractively toned all over, with special significance as the first bar found on this wreck. From the Bredenhof (1753), with original (generic) certificate from the salvagers.
($700-$1,000)
