Mexico City, Mexico, cob 2 escudos, 1698L, "jeweled cross" variety, very rare, NGC AU details / counterstamp, CT Plate Coin. S-M29; KM-52; Cal-876. 6.7 grams. Very bold full 98 of date and oXML, nearly full shield and crown, also full cross with unidentified (rampant Dutch lion?) countermark on that side in a flat area of the periphery (therefore not affecting the details). NGC #4440719-002. Plate Coin on page 402 of Calico's Numismatica espanola (2008 edition).
