Obverse with face of Bacchus inside rays within legend AMERICA LIBRE; reverse with arms inside legend REPUBLICA BOLIVIA (matching the design of 1831 issues, although label says "c. 1825"). The Bacchus face (in smiling form) has been a symbol of the Potosi mint since colonial times and a large version hangs over the entrance to this day. Bold strike with satin-smooth fields and nice rims, no marks or wear except on high points of Bacchus. PCGS #32908392. Pedigreed to the Whittier collection.
