Potosi, Bolivia, medallic 1/16 boliviano, 1865, PCGS MS61, ex-Whittier (stated on label). Burnett-103 (obv 9, rev 10); Fonrobert-9684 var. Obverse with bust of Melgarejo inside legend EL HEROE DE DICIEMBRE and eleven stars; reverse with hand holding stick over dragon with wings spread inside legend SALVA LA PATRIA DE LA ANARQUIA 1865; both sides with beaded rims per Fonrobert-9684 (who calls it a "Medio-Real"). Bold but somewhat crude and slightly off-center strike, with light toning and slight central weakness and adjustment marks on reverse. PCGS #32906160. Pedigreed to the Whittier collection.
