Brazil (Rio mint), gold moeda (4000 reis), Joao Prince Regent, 1808, six-petal florettes flanking date, medal axis, NGC MS 65+, finest known. Gomes-unl; Russo-568a; KM-235.2. Superb strike and preservation, with lovely luster graced with red toning, in fact the finest known at NGC by two grades, the highest at PCGS being MS64+. In addition, something the label does not mention is the fact that this coin has medal axis, known in Portuguese as "eixo horizontal" (or just EH), propelling it to about double value in Russo (and unlisted for this variety in Gomes). Clearly a coin for the Brazilian connoisseur! NGC #4625817-011.
