Medellin, Colombia, 5 decimos, 1888, elongated head, unique, PCGS VF25, Restrepo Plate Coin (stated on label). Restrepo-401.1; KM-167. Full details with very light toning and minor bumps and marks on grainy surfaces, unique issue with famously distinct bust displaying shorter hair than the prior "elongated head" type of 1887-8 (Restrepo-402), which is also rare but not to the point of this #401 that Restrepo calls "one known," that one coin being the present specimen, with no other examples known to us either, clearly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the hardcore "half dollar" collector. PCGS #39228022. Pedigreed to the Nueva Granada Collection (stated on label), and Plate Coin on page 232 of Restrepo's Coins of Colombia (2012).
