Costa Rica, 1 colon, 1923 counterstamp (Type IX) on a Costa Rica 50 centavos 1890GW, NGC MS 64, c/s UNC standard. KM-163. Bold counterstamp with satin-smooth fields, the host coin with minor marks and rim-flaws (as made) with very light reddish toning, finest known by six grades at NGC census (but only for those specifically attributed to this host date, "top pop" for this type being MS 65).
