* To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary in 1935, nearly three quarters of a million (.500) silver currency Crowns were made, all with incuse edge lettering. At the same time just 2,500 pieces were struck in silver proof with raised edge lettering, and 25 pieces were struck in gold. Some time later it was realised that a very small number of the silver 'raised edge proofs' had been struck with a major error in the edge lettering sequence. One example fetched the princely sum of £600 at Glendinings' auction in 1966, and Linecar and Stone asserted that the error coin was Rarity 7 (one or two pieces known to exist). Today it is established that just 5-10 pieces exist (Rarity 5) and the coin has a catalogue value of £5,000 (around $6,500).
