Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Hyperpyron (Gold, 24.5 mm, 4.06 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 1294-1303. Bust of the Virgin orans within the city walls furnished with six groups of towers; M-X sigla on the lower field. Rev. M ΔE/CΠ - Fragmentary inscription / IX-XC Christ standing facing, crowning Michael IX (to left) and Andronicus II (to right) kneeling to either side. DOC 247-8. LPC 62.1. PCPC 127, sigla 91. SB 2396. Unusual with Michael IX on the left. Flan crack and usual flat areas, otherwise, very fine.
