ATTICA. Athens. 132/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.52 g, 12 h), New Style, under the magistrates Polycharmos, Nikogenes and Dionysios. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing pendant earring and a triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl and four serpents on the visor. Rev. Α-ΘΕ /ΠΟΛΥ - XΑΡΜ / ΝΙΚΟΓ / ΔΙΟΝΥ/ΣIOΣ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, winged kerykeion; on amphora, Ε (= 5th month); below amphora, ΠE (= contractor's initials); all within olive wreath. SNG Lockett 1936. Thompson 379a. Toned and well-centred. A few scuffs and marks, otherwise, very fine.
