Diocletian, 284-305. Denarius (Bronze, 20 mm, 2.36 g, 1 h), Rome, 285. IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG Laureate draped and cuirassed bust of Diocletian to right. Rev. IOVI CON-SER-V-AT AVGG Jupiter standing to left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter with his left. Cf. RIC V.2, 187 var (with a differing obverse legend and bust type). A possibly unpublished variety. Some flatness and marks, otherwise, good very fine.
